Youth Art Exhibit Applications
The Nemeth Art Center, in partnership with the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD), hosted a Youth Art Exhibit in our galleries at the Historic Hubbard County Courthouse in Park Rapids from May 16th - June 15th, 2019.
A reception and awards ceremony for the young artists was held on Saturday May 18th, 2019. Minneapolis College of Art & Design (MCAD) Admissions Counsellor, Christopher Alday, held a workshop for young artists interested in learning about applying to college art programs, with a focus on portfolios.
Mr. Alday will award the top sophomore or junior participant a $2300 scholarship for the MCAD Pre-College Summer Session. The scholarship includes tuition, room and board, supplies and three college credits for the 2020 session that is held in late July. In addition to the MCAD scholarship, prizes will be awarded to the top 3 artists in the exhibit.
We will begin accepting submissions for the 2020 Youth Art Exhibit in the early spring. Application is open to 15 - 18 year old youth residing in rural Minnesota communities of 20,000 people or less. Tribal and home-schooled individuals are also eligible to apply. Please check back for announcement of the open submission deadline.
