Youth Art Exhibit Applications
The Nemeth Art Center, in partnership with the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD), will host a Youth Art Exhibit in the Historic Hubbard County Courthouse in Park Rapids.
The exhibit will be on display at the Nemeth Art Center from May 16th – June 15th, with a reception and award ceremony being held on Saturday May 18th, 2019, from 2-4 pm.
At 3:30 pm, Minneapolis College of Art & Design (MCAD) Admissions Counsellor, Christopher Alday, will hold a workshop for young artists interested in learning about applying to college art programs, with a focus on portfolios.
Mr. Alday of MCAD will award the top sophomore or junior participant a $2300 scholarship for the MCAD Pre-College Summer Session. The scholarship includes tuition, room and board, supplies and three college credits for the 2020 session that is held in late July. In addition to the MCAD scholarship, prizes will be awarded to the top 3 artists in the exhibit.
Applications are now open to 15 - 18 year old youth residing in rural Minnesota communities of 20,000 people or less. Tribal and home-schooled individuals are also eligible to apply. The application deadline for the exhibit is May 10th, 2019 and there is no cost to participate.
